WebDAV File Management

WebDAV File Management

Deveo 3.19 introduced two long awaited features: organizing issues via drag & drop, and WebDAV uploads through the web UI. In this blog post, we will cover the latter in more detail.

The release also contained many other enhancements as well as bug fixes. The highlights of the release can be read from our release blog post. You can also view the release notes in full.

WebDAV Repositories

WebDAV repositories are a convenient way to share files in your project. Until now, uploading files to WebDAV repositories required an external client, or mounting the repository as a network share to your OS. Therefore one of the most requested features our customers have had has been the ability to upload files directly through the web UI. This allows quicker and easier way of storing files and making them accessible to your teammates.

The following sections will briefly cover the new features.

Uploading Files

After creating a WebDAV repository, you can upload files by clicking on the "Upload Files" link on the right, or by simply drag'n'dropping files anywhere on the page. The files will be uploaded under the current path you're browsing.

It's worth noting that the actions require a developer, master, or admin role in the project.

If you intend to upload larger files, we still recommend using an external client. Please see our comparison of WebDAV clients for further information.

Creating Folders

In addition to file uploads, we implemented the following convenient features: ability to create new folders, and remove them.

To create a folder, simply click on the "Create Folder" link and fill in the folder name.

The folder will be created under the current path you're browsing.

Removing Files & Folders

Removing files and folders can be done by hovering over the item in the listing, and clicking the trash icon.

After confirming deletion, the listing will update. Note that removing a folder will remove all the files and sub-folders in it.

Conclusion

We hope these new features will help teams to collaborate and share files even more seamlessly.
